Back
in 1997, when the web was really starting to boom, I was searching
for a unique login/member name that I could use from site to site.
After much thought and searching, I settled on sekaye. Sekaye [seh
KY uh] is a Swahili term for either "sunshine" or "laughter"
- I've heard both definitions. During that time, I was working as
a carnivore keeper at the Knoxville Zoological Gardens. The newly
built Pridelands exhibit was home to three adolescent lions: Aslan,
the male, and Sylvan and Sekaye, lionesses. Sekaye was born in the
Indianapolis Zoo, and transferred to the Knoxville Zoo when she was
18 months old.
